Through our four main integrated business units, Heemskirk will:
- seed or fund new ventures, and gain exposure to key mining regions and provinces around the world (Seed Capital)
- hold equity stakes in developing and expanding companies (Resource Equities)
- finance the development and expansion of new and evolving mining operations (Mining Corporate Finance) and
- be involved in mining operations worldwide (Strategic Assets).
This investment flexibility will provide Heemskirk with numerous investment opportunities. Heemskirk also intends to maintain an adequate level of liquidity to optimise the opportunities presented at all stages of the resource cycle.
Seed Capital |
Seed Capital is a reasonably small business unit, however it is very important in terms of positioning the Company for the future. Heemskirk Consolidated continues to take a number of seed capital positions in appropriate resource ventures. To date these have provided Heemskirk Consolidated with an early exposure to key mineral provinces, to strong management or to a new country or commodity. These investments are not intended to exceed 5% of the Company's asset base. The above diagram illustrates the business structure under which the Company operates. This structure is not common within the ‘current day' resources sector, many companies tend to operate in a discrete area rather than using the broad based approach of Heemskirk Consolidated. |
Resource Equities |
Heemskirk Consolidated has significant flexibility to participate in a range of resource investments. The Company may gain corporate exposure through capital raisings, unlisted opportunities or directly through onmarket, undervalued resource opportunities. These situations may develop into Strategic Assets.
To enable Heemskirk Consolidated to maximize its investment potential the level of liquidity in this business unit will remain high. Heemskirk Consolidated remains in contact with resource and finance industry participants. This unit acts as a conduit for increased corporate opportunities whilst gaining valuable recognition for Heemskirk Consolidated in the global resources marketplace. |
Mining Corporate Finance |
Heemskirk Consolidated works with resource companies to provide flexible structures, which will assist them to obtain a more suitable finance package for their development, expansion or working capital requirements. Heemskirk Consolidated does not intend to replace bank finance, but rather to work alongside the financing organisations and if applicable, assist companies to obtain the appropriate debt-to-equity mix for their financing. This is not only of benefit to the company's financiers, but also provides more alternatives for an emerging mining company. These same mining companies gain an alternative to dilution of their shareholders' interests through equity raisings at times when their share price may be artificially low. This business unit is a natural incubator for longer term Strategic Assets.

Strategic Assets |
Strategic Assets are positions taken either directly or indirectly in projects or companies that deliver cashflow on a sustained basis. Heemskirk Consolidated takes a longerterm view with respect to these assets. Business operations within this unit will continue to be a substantial part of the Company's assets over time. Heemskirk Consolidated has already included a series of strategic initiatives in this area and will seek to build on this, providing cashflow and growth. The size of this business unit may, however, vary from time to time, depending on the stage in the resource cycle and the opportunities available or realised. |
